One act of generosity, millions of lives changed

Millions From One (MFO) is a faith-based non-profit organization bringing clean, life-sustaining water to communities in Burundi, Africa. We believe one person’s generosity can ripple out to help millions, transforming health, opportunity, and dignity through access to safe, sustainable water. Our journey began in 2013 when MFO first visited Burundi. Seeing the urgent need for clean water, we drilled our first well that same year. Today, we maintain a full-time local team of 10 staff members managing well drilling, repairs, and hygiene training across the country.

Why Water

Every Morning, They Walk for Water.

In rural Burundi, more than 80% of people live without access to clean water. Women and children walk miles each day to fill their jerrycans from streams and ponds — hours that belong to school, to work, to family. They carry that weight home with remarkable strength.

A well in the center of a village gives those hours back — and the community maintains it themselves for years to come.

The Dirty Water Burundians Drink

Across rural Burundi, families collect their drinking water from rivers, ponds, and open, unprotected wells. These sources are often contaminated with bacteria and parasites that cause cholera, dysentery, and chronic illness—especially in children. For thousands, drinking unsafe water isn’t a choice; it’s the only option they have.
