What We Do

Clean Water. Lasting Hope.

One village at a time. Millions From One brings life-sustaining water to communities in Burundi — one of the poorest and most water-scarce nations in the world.

The Need

A daily struggle
for survival

In rural Burundi, more than 80% of people lack access to clean water. Families — especially women and children — walk miles each day to collect unsafe water from contaminated streams and filthy ponds.
This daily struggle keeps girls and boys out of school, causes widespread illness, and tragically costs lives every year.
Women carry heavy containers on their heads or backs, often bringing young children along on the exhausting journey. Many cannot leave their youngest at home, so they must do it all while also caring for their little ones. Waterborne disease is the leading cause of death among children under five. The lack of clean water doesn’t just affect health — it traps entire communities in a cycle of poverty, illness, and lost opportunity.

Easing a Mother's Burden

The weight she carries is more than water

Each morning, mothers across Burundi rise before dawn to begin the long walk to water. They carry heavy containers on their heads, their youngest children on their backs, navigating rough terrain in extreme heat.

The fact that it means longer hours in the sun, less water collected, and increased anxiety over the dangers they may meet along the way — this is not just a daily chore. It is a way of life that consumes much of their existence.

Clean water frees these mothers. It frees their daughters for school. It gives families time back — time to farm, to learn, to build a future.

We believe one person's generosity can ripple out to help millions — transforming health, opportunity, and dignity through access to safe, sustainable water.
